AN ANDROID PODCAST PLAYER · IN DEVELOPMENT
More of the
conversation.
Less of the pitch.
Skippy Podcasts is being built for people who like their podcasts, but would rather skip the ads and promotions.
Ordinary RSS listening, with optional ad skipping. Your original audio stays intact. You stay in control.

THE PLAN
Ready before you press play.
The planned flow is automatic: download an episode, prepare suggested skips, then listen. These features are still in development.
- 01 / DOWNLOAD
Your usual podcasts.
A free RSS podcast player for ordinary listening, with automatic episode downloads planned.
- 02 / PREPARE
Find the interruptions.
Transcription runs on your phone. A backend service analyses the text to suggest skip regions for ads and promotions. Generating skips requires a paid subscription and an internet connection.
- 03 / LISTEN
You choose what to hear.
Use the suggested skips or listen through. The player is designed to show progress and skip regions on a waveform, without editing the original recording.
OPTIONAL PODCAST AD SKIPPING
Even when the host
reads the ad.
The goal is to identify promotional segments within an episode, including the ones that sound like part of the conversation.
Detection can miss a segment or mark the wrong one. Skipping is optional, and the original audio remains available.
Ads & sponsor spots
Including host-read advertising embedded in the recording.
Self-promotion
Promotional segments for the show’s own products or services.
Cross-promotion
Promotions for other podcasts and shows.
A PLAYER FIRST
Less fiddling.
More listening.
Sensible defaults, a clear waveform and podcast artwork. A player that follows your phone’s light or dark theme.
That’s the direction for Skippy. Lock-screen playback is also planned. The focus is on getting the everyday listening experience right, rather than adding lots of settings.
GOOD QUESTIONS
Before you listen.
This is the current plan.
There’s still work to do.
Is Skippy Podcasts available for Android now?
Not yet. Skippy Podcasts is the proposed name for an Android podcast player in development. The public MVP has not been released, and there is no announced release date.
Is it a free podcast player?
The plan is free ordinary RSS playback. Generating new skips will require a paid subscription, with no free trial. Pricing has not been announced. Skips already generated will remain usable after cancellation.
Can it skip host-read ads and podcast promotions?
That is the goal: optional skipping of ads, host-read sponsor spots, self-promotion and cross-promotion. These segments can blend into the conversation, so detection will not be perfect. We are not claiming support for every podcast.
Does “ad skipping” mean the audio is edited?
No. The planned player skips selected regions during playback and preserves the original audio. This is different from an app simply having no ads in its own interface, or a publisher offering a separate ad-free feed.
Does the AI run entirely offline?
No. The planned workflow transcribes audio on your Android device, then uses a backend service to annotate the text and suggest skips. Generating skips needs a connection to that service. It is not fully offline AI.
How well does the detection work?
Early owner testing on two episodes of The Rest Is Politics was encouraging. That is a small starting point, not proof of accuracy across shows. Broader testing is still needed, and we are not publishing accuracy or time-saving claims.
Can I listen without skipping anything?
Yes, that is part of the plan. Ad skipping is optional. Ordinary RSS playback does not require a skip-generation subscription, and you will be able to listen to the original recording.
STILL IN DEVELOPMENT
A quieter way to listen.
We’re working on it.
